Lodge set on 40 hectares of acacia forest bordering the Ishasha sector, south of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Cottages, safari tents and wildlife visible from camp.

Enjojo Lodge occupies 40 hectares of acacia forest on the edge of the Ishasha sector, in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Its name means "elephant" in the Rukiga language, commemorating a young elephant born on the grounds during the lodge's construction.

Why choose Enjojo Lodge

  • Prime location directly on the border of the Ishasha sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions.
  • 40 private hectares of acacia forest, grassland and natural water point.
  • Wildlife visible from camp: elephants, buffalo, antelope, vervet monkeys, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys.
  • Four accommodation options, from cottages to bamboo cabins, for different budgets.
  • Cuisine sourced from the lodge's organic garden.
  • Strong local presence: proximity to the fishing village of Rwenshama and Bakiga culture.

Atmosphere

The lodge operates on an open circuit into the bush. Wildlife moves freely between the accommodations and the Akanyanza water point, situated opposite the restaurant. During the day, colobus monkeys and baboons move through the acacia canopy; at night, the sounds of the savanna take over.

The thatched bar-restaurant serves as the gathering point. A central fireplace and campfire extend the evenings, creating opportunities for travelers to connect after their safari day.

Accommodation

Enjojo Lodge offers four types of lodging scattered throughout the vegetation:

  • 7 luxury cottages with hand-crafted décor, outdoor shower and veranda overlooking the surrounding nature.
  • One safari house with a thatched roof, featuring a spacious open-air lounge overlooking the grassland and a private campfire.
  • Self-contained safari tents with private bathroom and terrace facing the bush.
  • Bamboo cabins equipped with beds, linens, towels and outdoor showers, offering a simpler experience.

Services and activities

The bar-restaurant serves home-cooked dishes prepared from the organic garden's produce. The activity menu, organized from the lodge, covers the essentials of what can be done in the sector:

  • Fishing at the Akanyanza water point (tilapia, lungfish, catfish).
  • Nature walks on the property and surrounding countryside.
  • On-foot or bicycle visits to nearby Bakiga villages.
  • 4x4 safaris with open roof in the Ishasha sector (tree-climbing lions, elephants, hippopotamuses, leopards).
  • Bush camping in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
  • Excursion to the Rwenshama fishing village on Lake Edward.
  • Birdwatching outings led by a specialist guide.

Location and access

The lodge sits directly on the border of the Ishasha sector, approximately 5 minutes from the park entrance. Multiple access options from the country's main entry points:

  • From Entebbe: domestic flight of approximately 1 hour to local airstrips, then road transfer.
  • From Kasese airport: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes by road.
